  • The city of Hurst was named in 1909 as a mere depot after William Letchworth Hurst after he agreed to let the railroad lay track connecting Fort Worth and Dallas on his land with the condition that a stop be established there and given his name. Hurst finally became a city in 1952 with a total population of only 3,000. Today, Hurst is home to approximately 38,700 people, covers a mere 9.92 square miles and offers residents a quiet, suburban lifestyle complete with good schools and plenty of parks just minutes from the world-class economic, employment, and entertainment opportunities of the DFW metroplex. Located in northeast Tarrant County, approximately 15 minutes from both Dallas and Fort Worth, the cities of Hurst, Euless, and Bedford make up the area known as the “Mid-Cities.”
